IHMA - The National Platform of Indian Homoeopaths

The Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association (IHMA) is an Official registered organization under the Indian Societies Act, bearing the registration number (S. No. 64 / 2004). With more than a decade since its inception, it has brought together members of the Homoeopathic fraternity from all parts of the world on a single platform.

IHMA’s core philosophy and purpose is to Support Education, Medical Service, Research, and promotion of the Homoeopathic system of medicine in India and abroad. Structured as a national, state, and local chapter organization, this association is an amalgamation of senior and junior homeopathic practitioners, academicians, and researchers.

The association helps Promote the art and science of Homoeopathic Healing through the teachings of master Hahnemann and as per the guidelines of AYUSH systems of Medicine, Govt of India.

With various recognized activities like the IHMA School of Homoeopathy, IHRC the research wing, IHMA women’s wing, social security schemes, medical panorama the medical journal and with members from India and overseas IHMA stands as one of the pioneering Homoeopathic organizations in the world.

History Of IHMA

Homeopathy was introduced in India in the early 19th century. It flourished in Bengal at first, and then spread all over India. 31.05.1946, The Travancore Medical Council requested the Government to set up a Homeopathy Government Hospital for Children.

1957, the EMS Government decided to start the first Homoeopathy dispensary at the government level. 21.02.1959 the first Homeopathy Dispensary started functioning in the state of Kerala at East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram.

1960’s the first private Homoeopathic medical college was established at Kottayam with a 4 1/2 years diploma course.

1981-82 DHMS to BHMS first at Government Homeopathic Medical College at Trivandrum in. 1986 – 1987 Formation of Kerala Homoeopathic Graduates Association (KHMGA).

2003 November The decision to form a national organisation was taken at Thunjanparamba, Tirur, Kerala at a meeting in connection with the north zone conference of KHMGA

And thus IHMA, the Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association was born ......

2004 Registered at Kozhikode under act of XXI of 1860 of Societies registration Act on 28th of January 2004 – IHMA Registration number - 64/2004.

04-04-2004 The formal announcement of IHMA was declared at the Co -op bank auditorium Thiruvananthapuram at a function inaugurated by Dr. K. J Issac, former and first principal of Govt Homoeopathic medical College.

2003-2004 In accordance with the Indian societies act the first national office bearers held positions. Dr MG Oomen the national president, Dr M Premachandran vice president, Dr Sudhir E Vice president, Dr T K Harindranathan National general secretary, Dr Sreekumar E secretary, Dr Geetha Secretary, Dr K P Arun Prasad as Treasurer.

Registration of Societies ACT XXI of 1860 S. No. 64 / 2004 the BYE LAWS of IHMA were registered by the elected national leaders in presence of Dr. C.B Rajith Prakesh and Dr. M.E. Prasanth Kumar duly signed by District registrar general Kozhikode.
